Wednesday, June 22 2016 by SNTV
  • Sri Lanka reaction after Liam Plunkett hit a last ball six to draw the first-one day international at Trent Bridge on Tuesday (21st June), a match Sri Lanka had looked certain to win.

SOUNDBITE: Farveez Maharoof, Sri Lanka all-rounder:

"It was a great game, a tough one to take. It's never easy, where we were to end up on the tying side. Overall we had a great game, and great response from England lower order they batted well and made it closer so overall all it was a brilliant game"

SOUNDBITE: Farveez Maharoof, Sri Lanka all-rounder

(asked about how Nuwan Pradeep is feeling, bowler who Liam Plunkett hit for six)

"I feel for the guy, it's not easy being a bowler, I know the feeling that he is going through now. It's part of cricket, you never expect it, England to fighty back when they are six batsmen down. But they batted really well after the partnership with (Chris) Woakes and (Josh) Buttler. I think we had a great game but unfortunately we couldn't finish it up"

SOUNDBITE: Farveez Maharoof, Sri Lanka all-rounder

(asked about fitness of Sri Lanka Captain Angelo Matthews):

"Captain has a stiff hamstring and will be assessed in the next couple of days, and we'll see how it goes. I was told he has a stiff hamstring".
