Faulkner- We haven't played as well as we can

Tuesday, June 21 2016 by SNTV
  • All-rounder James Faulkner spoke on Monday (20th June) as Australia prepared to face the West Indies in their eighth Tri-Series one-day international on Tuesday (21st June).

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia all-rounder:

"Obviously it's been a little bit of a stagnated series so far and for us we probably haven't played as well as we'd like and the weather has played a role. So it's pretty straight forward as a group and we know what we have to do and that's win two games of cricket to win a series."

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia all-rounder:

"I think South Africa and the West Indies are two very good teams. I think obviously with the West Indies playing at home it's a massive bonus and it's exactly the same when we're back in Australia and get to play in home conditions. They beat us last game don't forget that so we have to turn up and play our best cricket as a group and put a solid performance on the board if we're going to make the final."

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia all-rounder:

"I don't know if I have to lead the way but I have to do as best as I possibly can. Whether I start poorly or I start well, I need to try and turn it round or run with the momentum. I can control that and every single player can control their own performance. I'm not going to worry about other people's performance just concentrate on playing as well as I can."

SOUNDBITE: (English) James Faulkner, Australia all-rounder:

"I am just trying to do as well as I possibly can with the ball when given the opportunity. I bowled seven overs and six overs...that's just the way the game has played out so far. And like I said I can control what I can control and when I get the ball (to) bowl as well as I can for the group and when I get the bat do as well as I can. It's pretty simple. People can write and say whatever they want to do. Your career stats are your career stats and right now performance counts for everything and tomorrow I'm trying to put in a good performance for the team."
