Players get a final practice ahead of the US Open

  • Players get in a final practice on Wednesday, a day ahead of the first round of the US Open, Oakmont Country Club, Oakmont, Pennsylvania

SOUNDBITE (English) Sergio Garcia (on coming in off a win at the AT&T Byron Nelson):

"Well, we'll see. These tournaments are so unique and there's such a thin line between doing really well and not doing so well. Obviously, I do come from a win at Dallas and it is nice to come with a bit of confidence that way. When we tee it up there on Thursday, it's a brand new tournament, none of those things matter."

    SOUNDBITE (English) Chris Wood:

"Yeah, I'm feeling really good about the way I'm playing. Chances, you know, this is my first US Open and for it to be Oakmont, probably one of the arguably hardest golf courses. I'm hearing from the guys who've played, sort of, straight into the deep end. I've not played a golf course like this where it's just relentlessly tough."

    SOUNDBITE (English) Soren Kjeldsen:

"Yeah they have. This is as tough as it gets. I think from a playing perspective, I think it's very important not to be caught up in all of that. At the end of the day, the guy that hits the best shots, makes the most putts, is going to win. No matter if it's minus 20 or plus 20. I'm certainly very aware of not getting lost in all of that. The course is what it is. It's a very, very good course. It's set up brutally tough but that's it. It's the same for everybody."

    SOUNDBITE: (English) Jordan Spieth:

"If you hit it in the fairway, sure. I mean, it's fun. This is a once in a year-type challenge. I wouldn't mind having it a couple of other times in a year, but Oakmont is just a fantastic golf course. Its set up, obviously very challenging. We had overcast and a little softer conditions and it was actually somewhat 'getable' this morning. We'll see what happens with the weather but I certainly have fun playing in any Major."
