Cook: Bowlers undercooked after Sri Lanka washout

  • Reaction from Lord's after England and Sri Lanka drew the weather-affected third and final Test on Monday (13th June).

"Yeah, it's a good series win, isn't it? I would clearly like to have had the 90-odd overs today. I think it would have been a really good game of cricket. On a good wicket and actually put us under a bit of pressure as a fielding group and a bowling group. Certainly, when you're trying to take ten wickets in a day and the outside chance that they (Sri Lanka) get a partnership going. At Lord's it's quite hard to stop, so it would have been good to put us under that pressure as a bowling side, but you know, I certainly think we would have created ten chances to try and win that game."

"Well, I mean there is always that thought. There is that thought with a guy who scores as many runs as he can. I think Jonny is enjoying both roles, he knows how hard he has to work at his 'keeping, that's a conversation we do have and he knows that a couple of chances have gone down, but you don't become a world class wicketkeeper overnight. It's down to a lot of hard work and I think he's made big strides since that South Africa series, just standing next to him, so, you know, he's heading in the right direction. I think we as a side are as well and if we win that Pakistan series, then all those trophies would be a great achievement."
