  • Reaction from Garbine Muguruza and Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain, plus Canada's Milos Raonic on Day 8 at the French Open in Paris on Sunday (29th May).

SOUNDBITE: (Spanish) Garbine Muguruza, defeated Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-3, 6-4:

    (Q. That's a very good win today. How do you feel now going forward?)

"Yes, I do think it's a very good win, because I played her before. It was a very hard match. Well, she's obviously a champion here. She knows how to win this tournament, and she has a lot of experience and is a very tough player. So being in quarter-finals again, it's great."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Albert Ramos-Vinolas, defeated Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-4, 6-4:

    (Q. Coming into the tournament, were you doing anything differently or did you come in with confidence thinking you could make it this far?)

"I'm saying thay maybe the work I did... I don't know. It's difficult to say since when, but the work I did, it's working on now. It's like a present for me, because, to be honest, I didn't expect this one when I arrive here. Last week I lost to Wawrinka 6-1, 6-1 in Geneva and I was a little bit down. This is tennis. And now I feel great."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Milos Raonic, lost to Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-2, 6-4, 6-4:

    (Q. You had your hip worked on last match. How much of a lingering issue was that today?)

"I don't think it really had any effect on that. Going forward, it's not on my mind at all."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Milos Raonic, lost to Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-2, 6-4, 6-4:

    (Q. Did it take a bit of pace out of the court? Today it seemed pretty clammy out there.)

"It's slower and heavier conditions. But it's me facing the exact same thing he's facing. Who does that benefit? Obviously that's up for interpretation, but I had a simple task out there to try to find a way to win and I wasn't able to find that today."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Milos Raonic, lost to Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-2, 6-4, 6-4:

    (Q. You're bringing John McEnroe onto your team, You must take it as a compliment that an ex-player of his stature is agreeing to work with you and sees potential in you on the big stage?)

"Yeah, it's a great honour, and, you know, there's a lot I want to achieve. And I'm what seems like maybe far from it today, but I feel like I'm a lot closer and I'm going to try to do everything I can to sort of maximize that myself and maximize giving myself that opportunity to achieve those goals."
