An eagle at the last propels Scott Hend to the top of the leaderboard at nine under par after a topsy-turvy third round at the PGA Championship on Saturday (28th May).

Day three of the BMW PGA Championship saw plenty of changes in the leaderboard on Saturday.

Martin Kaymer's consistent week continued with a third straight two-under par 70 to leave the former world number on six under overall, three behind the leader going into the final day.

Danny Willett, the US Masters champion, had a day he'd rather forget - this birdie on the fifth a rare moment of quality as the back nine once again caused him problems, four bogeys in a four over par 76 means the Englishman is at six under alongside Kaymer, despite starting the day in the leading pack.

Lee Westwood produced his best round of the week so far, a four under par 68.

Westwood, who is playing the BMW PGA for the 23rd year in a row, stands at seven under for the tournament, two shots off the pace, alongside YE Yang.

The South Korean, who had a share of the lead coming into the day, shot a three over par 75, but is still within two of the lead.

The round of the day came from England's Tyrrell Hatton, who had five birdies coming home to complete a six under par 66.

That pushed him 20 places up the leaderboard to eight under par and he would have been at the top going into Sunday had Australia's Scott Hend not eagled the eighteenth.

Hend, ten under overnight with Willett and Yang, was three over par for the day at the 18th tee, but his second shot to the par five last somehow avoided the bunkers and took a very nice bounce towards the hole.

Hend finished with a one over par 73 and leads by one over Hatton at nine under par.
