Manchester United have confirmed the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their new manager on a three-year contract. (Friday, 27th May)

Manchester United have finally unveiled Jose Mourinho as their new manager.

The former Chelsea boss has put pen to paper on a three-year deal at Old Trafford, it was confirmed on Friday.

Mourinho replaces Louis van Gaal at United's helm, less than a week after the Dutchman guided the Red Devils to FA Cup glory.

However, failure to qualify for the Champions League and a much criticised playing style saw Van Gaal relieve of his duties on Monday.

Mourinho was sacked by Chelsea in December following a spectacular fallout with his squad, and left the Blues flirting with the relegation places.

Despite this the self-styled special one has a bulging trophy cabinet that includes three Premier League's, one La Liga and two Champions League titles.

United will be hoping Mourinho brings his winning touch to Old Trafford.
