Bianchi family to sue over driver’s death

Friday, May 27 2016 by SNTV
  • The family of Jules Bianchi announced on Thursday (26th May) they are to take legal action against motorsport's governing body, the Marussia team and Formula One Management following the French racing driver's death from head injuries.

The family of late F1 driver Jules Bianchi have begun legal action following the driver's tragic death last year.

An English law firm working on behalf of the Bianchi family revealed on Thursday they plan to sue the FIA, Bianchi's Marussia team and Formula One Group, of which Bernie Ecclestone is the chief executive.

The Bianchi family believe the actions of one or more of the three parties may have contributed to the crash.

Bianchi died in July last year, nine months after he crashed into a recovery vehicle at the rain-soaked Japanese Grand Prix.

The FIA's own investigation concluded that a number of conditions including the tricky conditions, Bianchi's speed, and the presence of a crane all contributed to the awful accident.

Bianchi's father Philippe says the family aims to "seek justice for Jules."
