Hunt 'excited' to join Wallabies squad

  • Michael Cheika has named 10 uncapped players in his 39-man training squad ahead of June's three-Test home series with England including former rugby league and Aussie Rules star Karmichael Hunt.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Karmichael Hunt, Queensland Reds centre:

"It's nice to be amongst the squad and be heading up to the Sunshine Coast next week. Really looking forward to being in the environment with the boys. Obviously we've had a taste with the mini-camps that (Michael) Cheika's been holding throughout the year but I guess to be in the squad, watch the team sort of train and obviously get to know the team knowledge and all that is very exciting so I'm looking forward to it."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Nick Frisby, Queensland Reds scrum half:

"Yeah, it is. It's a nice little reward for a lot of hard work but it has been a long time but this year has been really pleasing for me and to get invited to come along and join the squad is really exciting and I'm looking forward to getting down there and ripping in next week."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Samu Kerevi, Queensland Reds centre:

"Yeah, it means a lot, you know. I've developed a lot of my rugby here in Australia and I've always wanted to represent it so...I didn't get that chance in Under-20s level and now to be able to have the opportunity to represent it at Wallabies level, I'm really excited about the challenges. Next week, I just want to dig in and really push for a spot."
