An investigation team which will probe whether there were illegal payments involved in Tokyo winning the 2020 Olympic bid met for the first time in the Japanese capital on Thursday (26th May).

"The contract made with the consulting firm is said to be under a confidentiality agreement. We have just begun discussions on what we can do to gain access to them."

"Unfortunately, we have yet to finish narrowing down the list of people we would like to call in for (investigation) hearings, and we have yet to finish the extensive reading of materials, so at this point we cannot say when we will be able to finish (the investigation)."
