Wawrinka survives scare to progress

  • Stanislas Wawrinka and Milos Raonic both moved into the second round of the French Open with wins on Monday (23rd May).

    Defending French Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka nearly suffered a shock opening round exit from Roland Garros on Monday (May 23rd).

    His opponent Lukas Rosol pushed the Swiss star riht to the wire, taking the first and third sets.

    However, Wawrinka's quality eventually told and the defending champion survived the scare to progress into the second round.

    Also through on Monday was Milos Raonic who was a comfortable victor over Janko Tipsarevic 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

    The Canadian is aiming to go beyond the quarter final stage in Paris for the first time.
