Bairstow on saving England's day

Saturday, May 21 2016 by SNTV
  • Reaction from Jonny Bairstow following the second day of the first Test between England and Sri Lanka at Headingley on Friday (20th May).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jonny Bairstow, England batsman (asked for his reaction after scoring a century at his home ground):

"Yeah, it's pretty difficult to put into words straight away to be honest with you. It's not really sunk in, but I've been, I'm sure you, having seen me pretty much from the start, has seen me make a few runs here, but that's really, really pleasing for me to.... obviously back up, really, the winter. There was a lot of speculation and this, that and the other, but to come, to come off the start of the season and to start strongly for England was something that I really wanted to do and no, there's no better place in doing it than your home ground and.... yeah, I got a little bit lucky with the caught and bowled that went down but sometimes you've got to ride your luck and make the most of it and when it's going your way you've got to cash in and hopefully, hopefully it stays my lucky way for a little while yet."
