  • Italy's Diego Ulissi of the Lampre-Merida team won stage 11 of the Giro d'Italia in a sprint to the line in Asolo, northern Italy on. Andrey Amador (Movistar) was second, ahead of Pink Jersey wearer Bob Jungels of Luxembourg, who lost two seconds to Amador in the General Classification but is still 24 seconds ahead of the Costa Rican.

Wednesday's 11th stage of the Giro d'Italia was 132-miles between Modena and Asolo in the Veneto Region of northern Italy.
Luxembourg's Bob Jungels with the leader's Pink Jersey.

The main break of the day saw Vegard Stake Laengen (Norway, IAM Cycling), Liam Bertazzo (Italy, Wilier Trestina-Southeast) and Anton Vorobyev (Russia, Team Katusha) build up an advantage of ten minutes at one point, but eventually the peloton reeled them in, despite a crash involving a good proportion of the field.

The route to the finish line involved a technical descent and Vincenzo Nibali (Italy, Astana Pro Team) led the way, but with around 10 kilometres to go, Andrey Amador attacked and initially only Jungels went with him.

The pair opened up a lead and piled the pressure on the chasing group.

Diego Ulissi (Italy, Lampre - Merida) found the energy to bridge the gap and the trio pulled away, making sure that the stage winner would be one of them.

Jungels rode himself into the ground and gave up the stage win for time bonuses, with 10 seconds for first, six for second and four for third.

Ulissi beat Amador to the line in a time of 4 hours, 56 minutes and 32 seconds, his second win of the Giro this year and sixth of his career.

Amador cut Jungels' lead to 24 seconds, but Jungels has now opened up a 67-second lead over Valverde and Kruijswijk.

Thursday's 12th stage is a flat 168-kilometre (104-mile) route between Noale and Bibione.
