'Everyone is coming for me' - Jones

  • At the British Olympic Taekwondo Academy in Manchester on Wednesday (11th May), Olympic Taekwondo champion Jade Jones looked ahead to Rio 2016 and defending her title.

Four years ago at the London Olympics Jade Jones became the first Briton to win a gold medal in Taekwondo.

Fast forward to today and Jones is ranked number one in her weight category and is being tipped to take gold once again in Rio.

We caught up with Jones to find out if no longer being the underdog has had an effect on her ahead of the Olympics.

SOUNDBITE (English) Jade Jones, 57 kilogramme Olympic Champion:

"It's a hard question, to be honest. I think they are just two completely different... gold medals are both really hard in their selves, right? The first time I was an underdog, nobody really expected me to win and I was against the odds, sort of thing. And I beat the odds, beat all the world number ones and world champions, so it was hard in that sense, but at the same time I was young and youthful and didn't care or didn't think anything. Whereas now I've got the challenge of being on top, everybody's coming after me and I have to deal with the pressure of being expected to do well, so I think both are really hard, but I think it's going to be hard this time as well, just because everyone's coming for me and everyone switches on that little bit more for me."

Even if Jones' opponents are coming for her, it seems that she is more than ready to take them on.
