EPL bosses on Leicester's title win

Friday, May 06 2016 by SNTV
  • Francesco Guidolin, Alan Pardew and Mark Hughes offer their congratulations to Leicester City and Claudio Ranieri, after the club confounded initial odds of 5000/1 to win the 2015/2016 English Premier League title.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager (on Leicester's title win):

"I just think the one thing that has gone unreported a little bit is that they won it after 36 games and, also, that for ten games last year they were the best in the division the season before. So for the best part of 50 teams, they have been the best team in the country so all this 'things have fallen their way' and everything else, is not quite correct. They have been superb. They deserve all the plaudits that they get.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Mark Hughes, Stoke City manager (on Leicester winning the title):

"It's a fantastic achievement. Whether or not it is unprecedented, I don't know. Are we going to see more, possibly in inverted commas 'unfashionable' clubs getting to the top of the pile, who knows. But it's a great effort. Fantastic that they have been able to do it and done it with a couple of games to spare as well so that shows them great credit.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Francesco Guidolin, Swansea City manager (on Leicester City winning the title):

"This is important for the future of football, not only for future football but for sport in the future."
