Bayern made to wait for title win

Tuesday, May 03 2016 by SNTV
  • Bayern Munich were kept waiting for a 26th Bundesliga title after they were held 1-1 at home by Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday (April 30), as Bayer Leverkusen's Julian Brandt broke records.

A win for Bayern Munich at home to Borussia Moenchengladbach on Saturday (30th April) would have secured their 26th Bundesliga title.

However, they will be made to wait another week after a 1-1 draw.

Thomas Muller's 20th league goal of the season got Bayern moving in the right direction in the 6th minute.

With Tuesday's Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid in mind Pep Guardiola rested a number of key names.

And he was perhaps made to pay for that decision in the 72nd minute when Andre Hahn grabbed an equaliser.

This little slip means Bayern's title celebrations go on hold for another week.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen's Julian Brandt became the first teenager since Gerd Mueller to score in six successive league games.

His goal helped Leverkusen secure third place with a 2-1 win over Hertha Berlin.
