Adelaide United beat Western Sydney Wanderers 3-1 in the Australian A-League final on Sunday (1st May) to win the title for the first time.
The Premier Plate trophy was up for grabs on Sunday as Adelaide United and Western Sydney Wanderers did battle in the season’s grand final.
Neither side had been crowned A-League champions before - and it was Adelaide who opened the scoring through Bruce Kamau's first time finish.
Twelve minutes later they doubled their lead to put one hand on the trophy, via Spanish set-piece specialist Isaias' unstoppable free-kick.
Western Sydney Wanderers found a response in the second half when Scott Neville netted his first goal for the club to get them back in the match.
Adelaide were made to sweat until the 90th minute when substitute Pablo Sanchez pounced on a mistake in the Western Sydney defence to make it 3-1, and secure his sides first Premier Plate.
This victory sees Adelaide complete the Premier Plate and league title double.
A fine achievement when you consider the club sat bottom of the league last November.
A great day for Adelaide.
