Ranieri: for Spurs title decider I'll lunch with mother

  • After Manchester United and Leicester's 1-1 draw at Old Trafford, Leicester City only 2 points to take title. Claudio Ranieri and Louis van Gaal spoke after the game on Sunday (1st May).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Claudio Ranieri, Leicester City manager:

"I am so happy because we drew the match against a fantastic Man U because they played so well at the beginning, it was amazing. We suffered a lot because they pressed so high and they press so high that without (Jamie) Vardy it was difficult for us to stretch the defensive line.

    "At the end it's a draw, 10 v 11 (men), OK, I'm very happy."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Louis van Gaal, Manchester United manager:

"I have seen one of the best matches of the season of my line-up I think. But it was not enough. You have to score when you are so attacking and so creating chances in the first half, in the second half and you concede again a set play goal. That is a pity, I think.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Claudio Ranieri, Leicester City manager:

"Tomorrow night I'm going to fly because now I go back to Italy after I finish the press conference. And then I come back the same time as the match. I will be the last man to know the result in the UK!

"Yes, yes, I want to meet my mother, 96 years old and I'd like to go to have a lunch with her."
