Koeman dismisses link with Arsenal

  • Southampton manager Ronald Koeman insists he will be at the club next season despite stories linking him with other jobs.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ronald Koeman, Southampton manager (on opponents Manchester City):

"I don't know, still they need to finish in the top four and they are still not sure about that and that makes a difference. Of course I can understand that the Real Madrid away game (Champions League semi-final) it's also a big one but they are professionals - they have more than 11 good players to start and it's possible that the manager will change some players but still they are strong. They changed some players in other games but they had good wins. They are strong and you need to be at your best to give them a really good competition."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ronald Koeman, Southampton manager:

Q - Will you still be at Southampton next season?

"Yes, of course. I have a one-year contract."

Q - Could you imagine managing a club the size of Arsenal?

"I don't like to talk about any other clubs because I think everybody has ambition and I have that also but I signed a three-year contract with Southampton. The club spoke to me about the next five years planning from the club. We didn't speak about a contract but, OK, it's still not the end of the season and we'll get time for that, but OK. Rumours are rumours, rumours will be always in football and what I don't like is always to go in that talk about rumours because.... I don't know."
