  • A Swedish league match between Gothenburg and Malmo was abandoned on Wednesday (27th April) after a firework was thrown near a Malmo player, who reacted by throwing a corner flag into the stands.

With the match locked at 0-0 with 12 minutes remaining, Gothenburg versus Malmo was abandoned after a firework was thrown onto the pitch.

Malmo winger Tobias Sana reacted angrily as the banger went off by his feet while he was warming up on the touchline.

The former Gothenburg player ran towards the Gothenburg fans and threw the corner flag at them in anger.

He was escorted off the pitch, while the referee abandoned the game.

Gothenburg have since posted an apology on their website directed at Malmo, match officials and the spectators.

The club could face sanctions from the Swedish football association's disciplinary committee.
