On Thursday (28th April), Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew looked ahead to Saturday's trip to Newcastle United, one of his former clubs, spoke about how his side have reacted to reaching the final of the FA Cup, and the visit of England rugby head coach Eddie Jones, who gave his squad a motivational talk.

"It was a great occasion, but it's an occasion now that needs to be put to one side. We're still not mathematically safe in the Premier League, we've still got work to do, it's one of the reasons I asked Eddie Jones to come in today, to give us a little bit of a lift, so he had a few words with the team about complacency and what good teams do. I won't tell you what that bit was."

"Well, of course I've got an insight into that club that very few people have. You have to manage it to understand it. It's a club that is a beast when it's going well, and it can be equally as destructive when things aren't going well. There's not really too much middle ground and at the moment things are going well, so it's a big bear we'll have to fight in that pit."

(on Newcastle under Rafa Benitez)
"What I will say is that they have improved. They're a much stronger team, Rafa is an experienced manager who has managed at the very, very top of the game, and he's got this team in a much better place to win the game, and that worries me because my job now as Crystal Palace manager, I need to win the game''
