  • In preparation for his home Grand Prix, Russia's Daniil Kvyat went down Sochi's Olympic bobsleigh run on Wednesday (27th April).

Formula 1 star Daniil Kvyat has been preparing for his home Grand Prix in unusual fashion.

The Russian swapped his Red Bull race car for a bobsleigh during a visit to a venue used in the Sochi Winter Games.

Kvyat is no stranger to speed and hurtled down the track with the Russian national bobsleigh team.

The Red Bull driver found some similarities between F1 and his time in the bobsleigh.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Daniil Kvyat, Red Bull (talking about the similarities between bobsleighing and Formula One racing):

"Well, when I was a few corners.... looks like I could still go fast around the corner, but the g-force (gravitational force) generated is still quite different. It's a bit more of a vertical g (-force), what they are experiencing there. They even have some aerodynamics that have cornering abilities. Like they have these pull rods that they are pulling to steer. So it's quite good."

Sochi hosts the Russian Grand Prix this weekend, with Kvyat hoping to replicate his podium finish from the last race in China.
