Otto leads as China Open begins

Friday, April 29 2016 by SNTV
  • South African Hennie Otto fired an error-free nine-under-par 63 to lead after the first round of the China Open in Beijing on Thursday (28th April).

There were some sumptuous shots as the China Open got underway on Thursday.

Shot of the day had to be this impressive hole in one from Karl Rickardberg at the 16th.

The Swede eventually ended the day three under par in joint 23rd place.

Another Swede Alex Noren had an entertaining round as he picked up five birdies, two bogeys and an eagle. He ended up with a five-under 67 in joint 7th.

Fabrizio Zanotti almost replicated Rickardberg's hole in on from earlier - this time at the 6th hole. However, he fell just short.

Zanotti ended his round in third alongside Peter Hanson, whilst Bernd Wiesberger took second spot.

The man leading the way is Hennie Otto who hit a blemish-free nine-under-par 63 to top the leaderboard after day one.

Otto is hunting for his fourth European Tour title, and will hope to continue his form into the second round.
