Rio Mayor: "Political problems will not affect Olympics"

Thursday, April 28 2016 by SNTV
  • Rio de Janeiro mayor Eduardo Paes said that this summer's Olympic Games would not be affected by the political turmoil in Brazil.

SOUNDBITE: (Portuguese) Eduardo Paes, Rio de Janeiro mayor (on if political turmoil in Brazil would impact on the Olympics):

"I have said, since the beginning of this political and economical turmoil, that the Olympic Games would not be affected by that. Some reasons have led me to that. I think that, no matter what political party, ideological beliefs you support, if it's a coup, if it's not, if we should impeach (President Dilma Rousseff) or not, I believe that all public men and women of this country have the exact notion of the importance of this event."
