  • South Africa unveiled Allister Coetzee as the new head coach of the Springboks at a ceremony in Johannesburg.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Allister Coetzee, new coach of South Africa:

"I think it's an important day in my life personally, but first of all I think it's a humbling experience. For the opportunity that has been afforded, massive honour and I'm really.... to SA (South Africa) rugby, very grateful to SA Rugby first of all, for having the confidence in me. Grateful to (Japanese rugby club) Kobelco Steelers for giving me also an opportunity to come back to my country and coach."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Allister Coetzee, new coach of South Africa:

"We are in the top three of the best teams in world rugby. As South Africans we know our capabilities. As South Africans we are definitely not scared to take on that challenge, but our focus definitely is against Ireland, and like I say we do respect the (New Zealand) All Blacks and it's always great to have a contest against them, and.... we'll cross that bridge when we get to it, but for now Ireland, that's the priority."
