Masters winner Willett arrives back in UK

Wednesday, April 13 2016 by SNTV
  • US Masters champion Danny Willett returned to England proudly wearing his green jacket after touching down at Manchester Airport.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Danny Willett, Masters champion (on his reception at Manchester airport):

"This is good, eh. It's a nice way to get back into the airport."

Q: "Have you a grasp of the sheer scale of the reaction to your success?"

"Yes and no. Obviously in America it's not.... it's been pretty big in America. But obviously with the British press, it's a pretty big thing. So no, obviously until you get home I don't think you can quite realise the scale of what's going on."

Q: "And are we going to more major wins for Danny Willett?"

"I hope so, it would be nice, eh."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Danny Willett, Masters champion (asked how he managed to win the Masters):

"Just doing the things we've been doing, ticking the boxes that we said we'd do day by day, make sure we're trying to get better every time we go out and, and work, and that's all you can do. If, along the way fortunately you play some good golf and some more tournaments then fantastic, but we're just going to keep doing, the things we have been doing that are obviously working, and hope that things kind of continue."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Danny Willett, Masters champion (asked what he will do in the coming days):

"Just spending time with Nick (his wife, Nicole Willett) and little man (Willett's baby, Zachariah) and, just enjoying, what we've just done. Watching it over, seeing the re-runs. Just enjoying being at home and relaxing and going back to being a dad I guess, go and change some nappies!"
