  • Sarfraz Ahmed spoke in Karachi on Tuesday (5th April) after being named as Pakistan's new Twenty20 cricket captain.

SOUNDBITE: (Urdu) Sarfraz Ahmed, Pakistan Twenty20 captain:

"I've been the vice-captain of the team for the last year and I've been looking at various things and have noted them down. It's a difficult thing (captaincy), the whole nation is looking at you. We will sit down and see what's the better solution for Pakistan cricket, and we will try to create a good team which gives good performances for Pakistan."

SOUNDBITE: (Urdu) Sarfraz Ahmed, Pakistan Twenty20 captain:

"My aim is that we should play as a team. I was captain in the PSL (Pakistan Super League) in which I think the captain's relationship with the players is very important. If the relationship of the captain is good with his players it will be easy for him to understand them and they will understand the captain. My first intention is to have good relations with the players. They have to play with me. I need to understand what they are saying and they need to understand what I am telling them."

SOUNDBITE: (Urdu) Sarfraz Ahmed, Pakistan Twenty20 captain:

"We will try to play good cricket and try to make the team fight (in games). The best thing is when the team gives a good fight, and when it does so good results come."
