Samuels roasts Stokes and Warne

Monday, April 04 2016 by SNTV
  • Reaction from West Indies man of the match Marlon Samuels after the West Indies defeated England by four wickets with two balls to spare in a thrilling ICC World T20 final in Kolkata, India on Sunday (3rd April).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Marlon Samuels, Man of the Match, West Indies (on his dispute with Ben Stokes):

"Well, he doesn't learn. They keep telling him whenever he played against me, do not speak to me because I'm going to perform. I didn't even face a ball and he have so much to say today, so I know that I have to be right there until the end, again."

Q - And do you thrive on it?

"Yes, that's what I thrive on...that's what I'm still around for so long despite so much ups and down. Having turned my life around in the last five years and dedicating every day that I wake up and giving thanks to God, to my kids, this is what I'm doing for my kids everyday. I come out to play cricket, I play cricket with them in mind. But I played this game specifically, to be honest, and I said it to couple of team-mates, that I played the Test series in Australia and everything, Shane Warne has a problem with me. Don't know what, I have never disrespected him. Seems as if he has a lot inside him that he needs to come out. So I don't appreciate the way that he continues to talk about me, and the things that he keep doing. I don't know. Maybe because my face is real and his face is not."
