T20: West Indies dramatically beat hosts India

Friday, April 01 2016 by SNTV
  • The West Indies beat India by seven wickets on Thursday (31st March) to advance to the World Twenty20 final where they will face England.

Hosts India and the West Indies played out an enthralling clash in their World Twenty20 semi-final on Thursday (31st March).

The match got off to a typically dramatic starts as Virat Kohli was nearly run out early on off a free hit.

And the West Indies were severely punished for that missed chance as Kholi drove India on, scoring an unbeaten 92 off 47 balls as India closed their innings on 192-2.

Things went from bad to worse for the West Indies as star man Chris Gayle was dismissed in style by Jasprit Bumrah.

With Gayle gone it was left to Johnson Charles and Lendl Simmons to save the match.

Simmons was only in the side due to Andre Fletcher's injury, but he showed no nerves as he smashed an unbeaten 82 off 51 balls including five big sixes.

Simmons was twice caught off no balls, and he had no problems in punishing the Indian bowlers or their carelessness.

It was left to Andre Russell to hit the winning six that smashed the West Indies into the World T20 final in dramatic fashion.
England await the West Indies in Sunday's final.
