  • Sri Lanka beat South Africa by 10 runs in the final Group A game of the ICC Women's World T20 on Monday (28th March).

    Sri Lanka bowed out of the 2016 Women's World T20 with a ten run win over South Africa on Monday.

    Both teams were already out of semi-final contention, ensuring that there was little but pride at stake in the game.

    Sri Lanka elected to bat first with captain Chamari Atapattu holding together their innings with an impressive six boundaries.

    However, she was run out by Marizanne Kapp for 52.

    Sri Lanka ended their innings on 114/7.

    South Africa made a strong start to their chase, cruising to 50 from nine overs without loss.

    However, their progress was halted when they lost three wickets in quick succession.

    From here the ruins dried up and despite some resistance the South African's eventually slumped to a 10 run defeat.

    Leaving Sri Lanka to end their World T20 campaign on a high.
