  • Host nation India beat Australia by six wickets to reach the semi-finals of the ICC World Twenty20 on Sunday (27th March).

India and Australia did battle on Sunday for a place in the World Twenty20 semi-finals.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat, which looked like a smart decision to begin with as openers Usman Khawaja and Aaron Finch hit 50 without loss.

India made their first breakthrough in the fourth over as Ashish Nehra got ri of Khawaja for 26.

From here the run rate slowed and wickets began to fall.

Australia steadied themselves and Glenn Maxwell took up the mantle in some style.

Smashing a wonderful switch-hit sot for six.

Maxwell's momentum was soon stopped by Jasprit Bumrah, who caught out the batsman with a slower delivery.

Australia slowed after that and the target was set at 161.

India looked in a bit of trouble at the start of their innings as Shane Watson dismissed Rohit Sharma and then Suresh Rainato leave India 50-3 in the 8th over

So step up Virat Kohli to save the day for India.

The batsman hit an unbeaten 82 as he smashed India to victory with boundary after boundary.

MS Dhoni hit the winning runs, but the credit must go to Kohli.

The West Indies stand between hosts India and the final.
