  • England progressed to the semi-final stage of the ICC World Twenty20 tournament with a narrow 10-run won over defending champions Sri Lanka in Delhi, India on Saturday (26th March).

England got off to a shaky start against Sri Lanka at the World T20 tournament on Sunday, as Alex Hales fell for zero.

England recovered from their ropey start, but suffered another setback when Joe Root was caught for 25.

However, Jos Buttler was in fine form to drive on England's run total - hitting an unbeaten 66 as England finished their innings on 171-4.

So the chase was on for Sri Lanka, who also made a dreadful start to their innings.

Chris Jordan dismissed Chandimal as the defending champions lost four batsmen in just three overs.

Angelo Mathews lead the Sri Lankan fightback as he smashed his way to an unbeaten 73.

With the final overs approaching things got nervy for England.

However, Joe Root came up with a great catch from a Jordan delivery to relive the pressure put out the Sri Lankan fire.

Ben Stokes bowled out the final over as England scraped victory by 10 runs to reach the semi-finals.
