  • Australia beat Ireland by seven wickets on Saturday (26th March) in their ICC Women's World Twenty20 match in Delhi, India.

    Australia and Ireland did battle on Saturday (26th March) in Group A of the Women's World Twenty20.

    Australia won the toss and put the Irish in to bat.

    Openers Clare Shillington and Cecelia Joyce made a solid start to their innings, reaching 33 runs before the first wicket fell.

    The rest of the Irish order followed relatively quickly as they finished their innings with a beatable total of 91-7.

    Despite this Australia made a shaky start as lost two early wickets that left the Aussies at 31-2.

    However, Elyse Villani and Ellyse Perry steadied the ship with a solid 54-run partnership.

    Villani fell for 43, leaving Perry to hit the winning runs as Australia won by seven wickets.

    The win leaves Australia on the verge of semi-final qualification.
