  • West Indies beat South Africa by three wickets in Nagpur, India, on Friday (25th March) to reach the ICC World Twenty20 semi-finals

West Indies, T20 World Cup winners in 2012, took on South Africa, with a berth in the semi-finals at stake.

South Africa were first to bat.

Hashim Amla had been run out out in a mix-up with Quinton De Kock. Captain Faf du Plessis was next up - only to be caught by Sulieman Benn.

The South Africans continued to struggle on a slow wicket and limped to 122-8 with Quinton de Kock scoring a fighting 47 off 46 balls, including this six.

Although Chris Gayle would go on to be bowled from the second ball he faced, the two wickets he took were part of South Africa's slide to 47-5 that ultimately cost them victory.

But West Indies expertly exploited the conditions - Marlon Samuels hit 43 off 44 balls and led West Indies to 123-7 in 19.4 overs

With nine runs needed from the final over to complete a chase of 123, Carlos Brathwaite took the Windies to the brink by crashing Kagiso Rabada's second ball for six.

Before Denesh Ramdin finished the job - the Windies storming to their third consecutive Group 1 win by three wickets, earning themselves a place in the semi-finals.

They are likely to meet India or Australia in the last four in Delhi on Thursday.
