"It's incredibly sad that things going wrong at an Olympics is even discussed but when you look at things like what happened in Brussels it's a sad truth that it will spring to mind, a big public event like that. But I think you can't dwell on it and you've just got to have faith in humanity as well as faith in the security of the venues and in the values of the Games. I think the values of the Games surpass politics, religion, gender, they should do anyway. I've put a lot of love and a lot of time into sport and I think of it that highly and I think it's really sad that there could be a discussion about an event happening at the Games. So I've got all the hope that we will have a Games like London where everything runs really smoothly."

"Any time you travel abroad, there's always going to be potential to pick up viruse, illnesses, and it's just really important for us that we stay on top of our hygiene - we don't drop our water bottles in the water, we're really good on our hand hygiene when we come off the water. All those things are really important, and we should be doing them anywhere, every rowing lake we go to around the world. They're beautiful, waterways are fantastic, nature reserves and you see some amazing things on the waters but water is also a breeding ground for all sorts of things, whichever country you're in, so I think it just reminds us all to respect the water and to really stay on top of our hygiene while we're there."
