McCullum will leave 'career reflection for the post-match'

  • New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum spoke on Friday (19th February) ahead of his last Test appearance when his side faces Australia.

SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendon McCullum, New Zealand captain:

"You always get a bit of reflection when you come towards the end. But I think a (proper) time for a reflection will be post Test match and at the moment I am just focussing on trying to enjoy this last Test with the boys and make sure that we play in the manner that we have been able to perform in the last few years. It's going to be special and obviously playing in Christschurch as well and it's going to be a great crowd that is my understanding and obviously playing against a good Australian team. There is a lot to look forward to and plenty of time for reflection afterwards."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Brendon McCullum, New Zealand captain:

"That would be special if we could pull off a Test win. There are not too many players that have played for New Zealand in the last decade or two which have beaten Australia. To be able to do it at home would be something really special. Especially to be able to level the series as well. But, there is a long way to go before that result plays out and we've got some hard work in front of us. I think if we get back to what works for us best there'll be a good chance."
