Fourth-placed St Etienne are targeting victory against second-placed Monaco on Sunday in France's Ligue 1. Six points behind Monaco, Nice and St Etienne each have 39 points, and lead a pack of nine teams separated by only six points in a competitive division.
SOUNDBITE: (French) Christophe Galtier, Saint-Etienne coach:
(Q: You said in the reverse fixture that Monaco were not the team that you feared the most. Are you surprised to see Monaco second in the table?)
"I said that it was not the team that frighten me the most, but I said that they were efficient. The coach (Leonardo) Jardim has been working there for two seasons now. Sometimes we can think that they are in trouble, like last season, but they were always in a good position at the end. This year, even if they can go through bad periods, they know how to be efficient like they were in their derby (against Nice). They played 10 against 11 and they managed to win against Nice. They are serious, they have determination, diligence, with experienced and talented players like their South American ones or like young French players, (Thomas) Lemar for example, who came from Caen, and they have managed to be second in Ligue 1."
SOUNDBITE: (French) Christophe Galtier, Saint-Etienne coach:
(Q: Do you think that second place can be a target for you? )
"I never thought about it. Our goal is to achieve European qualification for a fourth year in a row. We're still alive in three competitions, we want to record good results to be in good position when the final sprint begins about six or seven games from the end and we have to be in a good place when that begins."
