Player hugs referee after he assigned a penalty kick to his team

Referees are often the source of players' frustrations but in one game in Brazil there was a lot of love for the man in black

Official Carlos Braga pointed to the spot in the 82nd minute with the score tied at two-apiece between Tigres and Boavista in their Rio de Janeiro State Championship game.

That saw Boavista scorer Mateus Parana immediately approach Braga before wrapping his arms around the referee in gratitude.

Another striker Leandro converted the subsequent spot kick to hand Boavista a 3-2 win and move it into second place at Group A of the Rio State League.

Parana didn't receive a yellow card and the referee didn't mention it in his match report.
