Blanc extended deal ends Mourinho speculation

Saturday, February 13 2016 by SNTV
  • Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc - out of contract at the end of the season - has signed a new two-year deal with the French league champions until June 2018, ending speculation he could be replaced by Jose Mourinho at the end of the season.

SOUNDBITE: (French) Laurent Blanc, PSG coach:

(Q: Are you satisfied with your two-year contract extension?)

A: "I am truly proud and honoured to continue the adventure, particularly since I arrived treading carefully as you may have noticed and maybe you were right. Having this two-year extension is a form of recognition, but I do not become complacent because the objective of the club is still very high and with it come huge responsibilities."

SOUNDBITE: (French) Laurent Blanc, PSG coach:

(Q: Will you pick reserve players tomorrow?)

A: "We have been preparing for this game (against Chelsea in the Champions League) for a long time and we are going to go all the way with it. Tomorrow there will be players who will be rested and others will start the game. But I'll tell you that tomorrow some players will play against Lille and they will also start Tuesday's game."
