The United States Women's National Team speak about the growing scare of the Zika virus ahead of the Rio Olympics.
SOUNDBITE (English): Jill Ellis, United States Women's National Team Head Coach:
"We haven't qualified so talk about Rio right now for me is not something that's in my, you know, in my scope. But I think we're certainly sensitive to the fact that this has become a global issue. We're sensitive to the fact that you know a lot of people have been impacted by this. I think right now we're trying to keep our focus on the game (against Costa Rica) and I think we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. But, you know, for me in terms of, you know, even locally here in CONCACAF there's been a lot happening behind the scenes that probably people aren't aware of just to make sure we're informed and we're safe. And that's the number one priority here is keeping our players and our staff safe."
SOUNDBITE (English): Alex Morgan, United States Women's National Team Forward:
"I feel like, as of right now, I agree with Jill. We're focused on qualifying so we don't really have Rio in our sights yet until the end of this month, hopefully. But Zika virus is a scary thing that is very unknown for a lot of people and, especially on the side of pregnant women who might want to get pregnant in the following years after the Olympics. That's a scary thing. But as of right now I'm here to qualify for the Olympics and hopefully some of those unknowns will become a little bit more known with the research that they're doing in the following months and hopefully they get a good grasp on it."
