Borussia Dortmund: Anyone for tennis?

Thursday, February 11 2016 by SNTV
  • Borussia Dortmund fans threw tennis balls onto the pitch in a protest against ticket prices on Tuesday (10th February), during their 3-1 win at VfB Stuttgart in the DFB Pokal Cup quarter-final.

It's not just Liverpool fans who are disgruntled over ticket prices.

But Borussia Dortmund fans said it with tennis balls - several were thrown onto the pitch during their German Cup game away to Stuttgart.

Fans are unhappy at the rising cost of attending Bundesliga games, a quarter of the away tickets for the match cost £55 - a lot for German standards

Supporters also boycotted the first 20 minutes of the quarter-final.

The tennis balls created quite a spectacle but the match was stopped.. Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel remaining straight-faced during the game, which his side went on to win 3-1

Players happy to lend a hand. The balls significantly smaller than they're used to!

And if you're curious why tennis balls were thrown - protesters said Germans use the expression "great tennis" to describe something very good.

Anyone else detect a hint of sarcasm?
