Goodell: "This was a perfect celebration"

Tuesday, February 09 2016 by SNTV
  • Speaking to the media in San Francisco, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said he believes that Super Bowl 50 was "one of the most-watched shows in television history."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner:

"This was a perfect celebration for Super Bowl 50. This community, the leadership, the public/private partnership came together in a way that we have never seen before. And one of the things I love to hear is 'most-best', and that's what they reached for in every sense of the word and they achieved it. And that's something we talk about - setting a new bar. Well, clearly the (San Francisco) Bay Area set a new bar."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner (on the Super Bowls viewing figures):

"The early ratings coming in are that we're at record levels once again. We anticipate this to be one of the most-watched shows in television history - if not the most-watched show in television history. And so we're thrilled with what the reaction is, not only here in this community but also around the globe, frankly. And I think the Bay Area put their best foot forward as they say and we're grateful for that."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Roger Goodell, NFL Commissioner:

"I think as we look back at San Francisco and say thank you we also, with the same kind of enthusiasm look forward to Super Bowl 51 and the leadership in Houston and say 'we can't wait.' And it's hard for me to say that on Monday morning, to think about the next Super Bowl but that's what happens."
