Club Brugge claim 1-0 home win over KAA Gent on Sunday (7th February) - to leapfrog their opponents in the standings and go top of the Belgian Pro League, while new signing Victor Valdes lets in two as Standard Liege lose 2-1 to Sint-Truiden.

It was first versus second in the Belgian Pro League on Sunday as leaders KAA Gent made the trip to Club Brugge.

With a three-point gap, a win would allow Brugge to go top on goal difference.

After a goalless first half, a reckless challenge from Renato Neto allowed the hosts a penalty.

Lior Refaelov stepped up - and coolly slotted home.

Gent's search of an equaliser went in vain - the 1-0 scoreline enough to see Brugge the new leaue leaders- level on 52 points but, crucially, ahead on goal difference.

VIctor Valdes was making his home debut after keeping a clean sheet in his first game for Standard Liege.

But the headlines were destined to be stolen by another debutant as they hosted Sint-Truiden.

Edmilson put the home side ahead 21 minutes in. So far, so good.

But Valdes lost his focus later on, leaving an open goal after this corner.

Debutant Nick Proschwitz was the unwitting goalscorerer, as the ball ricocheted off his face and into the goal.

1-0 to Sint-Truiden.

His first goal for the club will certainly be a memorable one.

His second was pretty good too - he found the winner with an hour on the clock.

The win sees Sint-Truiden go six points clear of the relegation zone , while Standard's hopes of making the playoffs looking increasingly unlikely.
