Cole: 'I'm not a diva'

Sunday, February 07 2016 by SNTV
  • New LA Galaxy defender Ashley Cole said on Friday (6th January) that he wasn't "a diva", wants to "change a few views on me being here" and insisted "I always want to win, I don't come here to sit on the beach".

SOUNDBITE: (English) Ashley Cole, LA Galaxy defender (Q: What are your thoughts on the MLS. You have seen it grow over the last couple years?)

"Of course, you see people like (Frank) Lampard of course Stevie G (Gerrard), (Robbie) Keane and of course I spoke to them on many occasions on how difficult it is. I spoke to the manager how difficult it is - with the traveling and the demands of the game over here. So I'm not fooled, I know it is going to be hard for me, for sure, but I said, I'm happy to be here. I'm going to try to work as hard as I can, change a few views on me being here, and we'll see. Of course I'm a winner. I always want to win. I don't come here to sit on the beach, to rest. I'm here to play football. I am here to work hard. I'm not a diva. I'm not this egotistical guy that comes and thinks he is bigger than anyone. I come here to work as hard as I can."
