Spain dominate with two back-to-back wins to claim 2-0 lead over hosts Serbia in their ITF Fed Cup clash on Saturday (6th February).
Spain took on hosts Serbia in their Fed Cup World Group II first round match on Saturday.
In the day's opening tie, Garbine Muguruza was made to work for a win over 18-year old opponent Ivana Jorovic in Kraljevo.
With stage-fright stifling the young Serbian in the opening exchanges, world No. 5 Muguruza raced into a 4-0 lead in just 14 minutes.
But Jorovic, ranked 174th, then sprung back to life and took the next three games.
Jorovic's perseverance made the last game of the match its longest, as Muguruza needed eight match points to break down her rival to seal a 6-3, 6-1 victory.
Serbia's best hope of staying on level terms was Jelena Jankovic's clash with Carla Suarez-Navarro, but the home crowd favourite was unable to contain the Spaniard after making a promising start.
Jankovic broke her rival's serve in the fifth game of the opening set but Suarez-Navarro broke straight back - and took the opening set after breaking Jankovic's serve again in the final game.
The pair traded breaks in the opening two games of the second set before Suarez-Navarro raised her game to claim the next four with a barrage of tough shots, forcing Jankovic to commit a flurry of errors.
Although Jankovic then broke Suarez-Navarro's serve when 5-1 down in the second set to stay in the match, her efforts only delayed the inevitable as the Spaniard sealed the contest in the next game 6-4, 6-2 after Jankovic double-faulted on her final serve.
