Games getting bigger and bigger - Neil

Saturday, February 06 2016 by SNTV
  • Alex Neil and new loan signing Patrick Bamford spoke on Friday (5th February) as they prepare for Norwich City's relegation clash at Aston Villa on Saturday (6th February).

SOUNDBITE: (English) Alex Neil, Norwich City manager, entering news conference

    (Q. Is this game against Aston Villa a big match in the battle to avoid relegation?)

"Yeah it's a big game. We've had a lot of big games this season, though. And I think every game after this is going to become bigger and bigger. You know, it snowballs and that's what happens when you come towards the end of the season, regardless where you are in the table, because if you're fighting for promotion the games become bigger because you need to win them and if you're trying to stay in the league then it becomes bigger because you need the points to stay up. So yeah, we understand the enormity of the situation."

    (Q. Does new on-loan striker Patrick Bamford offer Norwich something different to existing options?)

"Yeah, I think he's different. He' a left-footer for a start, which is different. I think his movement off the ball and different things like that, as well, in terms of his finishing, is very good. Yeah, he gives us options for what we've got."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Patrick Bamford, Norwich City striker on loan from Chelsea:

    (Q. How do you feel about getting involved in a relegation fight?)

"That's a good question, because obviously I've never done it before. It's a new thing for me, but it's another learning curve, as I said. Similar with the (Crystal) Palace situation (not being selected when on loan there). All I can do is play my best for Norwich and then help them in this situation and hopefully keep them up."
