  • Caleb Ewan won stage two of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour on Friday (5th February), while Peter Kennaugh finished the day in third place to retain the overall leader's yellow jersey.

The second stage of the Jayco Herald Sun Tour got underway on Friday with the riders travelling from Yarra Glen to Moe.

Team Sky rider Peter Kennaugh was the overnight leader, holding a seven second lead over team-mate Chris Froome.

Chris Harper and Yuma Koishi were the two riders to finally go clear of the peloton and battled it out on the tough climb's.

Harper eventually left Koishi in his wake and took the king of the mountain jersey from Froome, who was busy in the peloton.

Froom, in the centre of the shot here, was well in the mix with the rest of his Team Sky team-mates who collectively upped the pace to get Kennaugh into a position to attack the finish line.

However, Caleb Ewan gave chase and the in-form Australian sprinter broke away and made a dramatic burst for the line.

Ewan won the stage with Tanner Putt in third and Kennaugh finishing third.

Ewan toasted his stage victory whilst Kennaugh maintains his place at the top of the standings - leading Froome by 13 seconds
