Broncos talk Super Bowl 50, the Mannings and Cam Newton

Friday, February 05 2016 by SNTV
  • Denver Broncos coaches and players met the media one last time on Thursday (4th February), before Sunday's showdown with the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

SOUNDBITE (English) Gary Kubiak, Denver Broncos head coach:

(on coaching quarterback greats like Peyton Manning, Steve Young and John Elway)

"You know I've been fortunate in this league. I got to coach John (Elway) for a period of time, I got to coach Steve Young in San Francisco and now I get a chance to spend a year with Peyton (Manning), I mean those great players they challenge you as coaches, they're so bright they understand the game, they understand how to attack things and they challenge you when you walk in that meeting room to be honest with you from a coach, I'm speaking for myself, I'm speaking from a coaches' standpoint, that's what you want to be around cause that's how you grow as a coach."

SOUNDBITE (English) Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos quarterback:

(did he get any advice from his dad, former NFL quarterback Archie Manning, or his brother Eli?)

(he answers question from rapper Snoop Dogg)

"I had dinner with Eli the other night and he and I talked about a lot of things, but certainly he played against these guys earlier in the year. We talk about the practice routine, the set-up and so he's great to bounce ideas off of. My dad's always been a great sounding board for me throughout my lifetime and so I'm very grateful to have both of those guys."

SOUNDBITE (English) Emmanuel Sanders, Denver Broncos wide receiver:

(on what he's learned from Peyton Manning and says he's a funny guy)

"if it is his last game I'm always gonna take away the memories of not just him being Peyton but just knowing him personally the laughs that we had, 'cause Peyton is funny. You see his commercials (adverts). A lot of people don't understand that he's funny."

SOUNDBITE (English) Von Miller, Denver Broncos linebacker:

(praises the play of Panthers quarterback Cam Newton)

"As a fan of the National Football League, I'm a fan of its' greatest players and Cam Newton is one of the game's greatest players. It's only been five years (that Newton's been in the NFL) but you only predict the future of where it's gonna go and I got Cam's jersey, I've got a lot of stuff from all the greats in the NFL so, outside of the game I'm a truly huge fan of everything that he does."
