De Kock bemoans rain intervention

Friday, February 05 2016 by SNTV
  • Post-match reaction following England's 39-run win (D/L) over South Africa in the first encounter of their five ODI series in Bloemfontein on Wednesday (3rd February).

SOUNDBITE (English) Quentin de Kock, South African cricketer: on scoring 100

"I haven't scored a 100 like that in a while, so it was nice to stay in. Unfortunately for the rain I couldn't carry the team, so I would have liked to have done that, but I'm sure we'll get plenty of opportunities."

SOUNDBITE: (English) Jos Buttler, England cricket player: on the win ver South Africa

"It gives us huge confidence to score nearly 400. For this group of players we have been challenging ourselves and pushing ourselves for a number of months. At times we would get it wrong and we would be all out for 280 in 40 overs, but today is another great step forward for everyone to start this way in a series overseas against a very good team is brilliant, and we'll take this confidence forward. Obviously it is a shame that the weather intervened in what looked like it was going to be a very close match. Obviously Quentin de Kock was playing an unbelievable innings as well."
