Anderlecht edge out Sint-Truiden

Saturday, January 30 2016 by SNTV
  • Anderlecht win 2-1 at Sint-Truiden to close the gap on Belgian Pro League leaders Genk to two points.

A spectacular showing from Sint-Truiden's fans was matched by a stunning start to this game from Anderlecht. Within the first minute they had a penalty as Yvan Erichot brought down Dodi Lukebakio.

Yoeri Tielemans stepped up and delivered a crisp finish.

But the home side, who are without a win in five, hit back midway through the first half, the simplest of finishes for Ruben Fernandes.

Anderlecht looked likely to drop points until six minutes from time when they were rescued by Idrissa Sylla.

His first goal since November enough to close the gap on leaders Gent to two points.

Frustrating though for Sint-Truiden to come so close and that was all expressed in this challenge from Victorien Angban deep in stoppage time. A red card for him as their winless run goes on.
